Super U of Puteaux: rurbain proximity takes shape with Epta

Epta is investing in the fast-growing rurbain proximity format, signing off on the creation of the new Super U in Puteaux. This turnkey project is located in a lively residential and business district that has been recently redeveloped, just a few kilometers from the French capital. In the heart of Île-de-France, Super U Puteaux reflects the ‘rurbain’ philosophy of Coopérative U, blending urban modernity with artisanal charm to create a welcoming, functional, and sustainable space. NATURAL REFRIGERATION AS THE NEW SIGNATURE OF RURBAIN RETAILEpta was chosen as the sole partner for the supply, installation and commissioning of refrigeration equipment — a decision driven by the strong results achieved in other Coopérative U locations and by a shared commitment to environmental responsibility. The store’s refrigerated departments rely on advanced Bonnet Névé solutions using transcritical CO₂, a natural refrigerant with an environmental impact around 4,000 times lower than traditional HFC gases. The project includes the installation of remote cabinets strategically placed throughout the various departments, including: 

• Positive vertical SkyView models from the SkyEffect range installed along the ground floor perimeter, dedicated to prepackaged fresh products like dairy and cured meats. Available in open or closed versions, they ensure visibility, preserve freshness, and blend seamlessly into the store’s design.
• Positive semi-vertical Dualio and Shape models from the Mozaїk line, complementing traditional cases while enhancing the appeal of the store’s gastronomy and ready-to-cook products, all while maintaining high standards of energy efficiency and ergonomics for the benefit of both managers and staff;
• Negative vertical SkyLight models from Bonnet Névé’s Skyeffect family, highlighting frozen products with full-height doors for excellent thermal insulation, unprecedented energy performance, and significantly enhanced merchandising potential.

 AESTHETIC CUSTOMIZATION BETWEEN TRADITION AND INNOVATION Beyond performance, the project is distinguished by bespoke aesthetics, developed in collaboration with the retailer. Refrigerated cabinets feature a refined wood-effect finish, combining elegance with durability. A highlight of the store is the expansive cheese section, where open SkyViewmodels feature bespoke wooden shelving, evoking the atmosphere of traditional French fromageries while integrating seamlessly with the store’s contemporary layout. The Super U Puteaux project confirms Epta’s strategy of anticipating retail trends with store models that unite functionality, sustainability, and a consumer-centric shopping experience.
